Mrs. Gare - Simmons

This page shows the  'Mrs Gare' bowl shaped ointment pot originating from London

Richard Simmons is listed in the1881 Census as a druggist assistant. The directory for the following year shows him as an 'ointment maker'.
The wife of Mr Simmons, Emily Simmons, continued the business following his death.

A super shaped bowl of early delftware style bearing the portrait of a matronly looking lady.

There is a resemblance with this pot to the pot lid of Mrs Ellen Hale's Celebrated Heal-All Ointment whose proprietor was Mrs E. Hummerstone,
based in York Street, Walworth same as was the Simmons's.
